The Michigan State Senate has passed a resolution introduced by State Senator Dale Shugars that will ask music venues to deny admission to anyone under 18 to shows being performed by bands whose records have a parential advisory sticker, unless the minor is with a parent or guardian.
Shugars was inspired by the recent controversy over the April 30 Marilyn Manson show in Kalamazoo. Even though his current resolution is non-binding, which means venues can not be forced to comply, Shugars says he is prepared to draft a binding bill that will force compliance.
We urge all of our friends in Michigan to get organized to fight this attempt to keep young music fans out of shows.
