2 LIVE CREW STILL TOO "NASTY" FOR MISSISSIPPI JUDGE

Jeff Bransford, Scott Caradine and R. Thomas Fishman are owners of the Lyric Hall, a music venue in Oxford, Mississippi. On March 20th all three were handed six month jail terms for booking a performance by 2 Live Crew last December.

Oxford Municipal Judge Glen Anderson refused to accept even the Prosecutors recommendation of a plea bargin and a lesser sentence. Anderson did suspend all but seven days of the six months. The three venue owners were immediately taken into custody and placed in the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Judge Anderson called the December 4, 1996 performance by the 2 Live Crew "animalistic." He refused to abide dialogue on the sentences, and would not allow any testimony from witnesses for the defendants. Judge Anderson would not even view a police obtained video of the performance.

Gee, we wonder what would happen if Marilyn Manson ever gets booked at the Lyric Hall, a public lynching perhaps???
