Within the pages of THE ROC--The Voice Of Rock Out Censorship, you will find entertaining band interviews touching on hard-hitting political issues that most other publications shy away from, original band photos, scathing editorials and informative, educational articles on the issue of censorship. While we tend to focus on censorship within the music community, THE ROC will also tackle issues such as teen curfew laws, censorship in the adult entertainment industry, marijuana legalization, and many others where we feel that the freedoms of the public are being trampled on by a corrupt and oppressive system.
On each cover of THE ROC throughout our history, we have always included the motto of our group: "AGITATE, EDUCATE, ORGANIZE". It is through THE ROC magazine that we bring our message to the masses. We try to maintain the delicate balance between entertaining and educating, so that we can keep the legions of music fans informed about the abuses of power going on in our society without boring them to death with endless propaganda that reads like library material.
We now would like to welcome you to THE ROC ONLINE. Within this site, you can either choose to check out the most recent issue of THE ROC magazine, complete with full color graphics and photos, or you can visit our text archive of all the stories featured in past issues of THE ROC magazine.
The one thing you will never see within the pages of THE ROC is an attitude of compromise. R.O.C. does not believe that our rights of Free Speech and Free Artistic Expression are negotiable in any way. The current attacks upon our freedoms will not be cried away, wished away, prayed away, and certainly not voted away. Radical problems require more radical solutions. R.O.C. will always strive to be the militant voice of music fans in the anti-censorship movement with our call for unified and mass action. The groups and individuals attacking our music must be met head on, driven back, and smashed by an Army of Rock, Rap, Punk, Metal, Alternative, Industrial, Thrash, Death, Ska and Hardcore fans and bands along with others sympathetic to the principles of free speech. The recruitment of battle-ready troops for this Army is R.O.C.'s main objective.
In the October 20, 1994 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, in a feature story about Rock Out Censorship, Al Weisel wrote of THE ROC magazine, "...there is probably not a better publication in the country for following the latest assaults on the constantly beleaguered First Amendment." We welcome your comments and suggestions and hope you find THE ROC to be equally informative and entertaining.
