"We limit ourselves a lot about what we think we can do sexually... In our culture our idea of sex is so puny, compared to what it could be." --Carol Queen

The CHEROTIC REVOLUTIONARY is an important voice in any dialogue re: the relationship between sexuality and spirituality. Published/edited by renowned performance artist Frank Moore, Linda Mac and friends, discussion here is pointed, an engaging read, instructive and more. The latest issue (Vol. 1, #3) contains contributions from Veronica Vera ("Glory! Glory hole-leluhia!"), Annie Sprinkle and Luna Sunguine with a Situationist's take on the S & M sex industry. (There's also a piece from Frank himself, wherein he traces performance art and his own work's lineage back to its primal roots, when art combined "with science and religion to form the primitive man's occult tool to influence both the natural and the super natural worlds." Whew! Plus: poetry, manifestos and some really awesome pen & ink art by the one and only LaBash. $5 from inter-relations, P.O.Box 11445, Berkeley, CA 94701...

EIDOS stands for Everyone Is Doing Outrageous Sex and is probably the scrappiest sex publication in America today. "Grass-roots" in orientation but Global in scope --and POLITICAL as all hell ("in the Thomas Jefferson tradition of First Amendment Rights"). EIDOS publisher/editor Brenda Loew Tattlebaum is a great figure in the anti-censorship movement of recent years, known for giving it back to the fundie know-nothings as good as they give! Recent issues of EIDOS have featured some earthy, non-etherial erotic poetry, reviews of numerous mags and books you may never knew existed, a review of the Fit 2B Tied "sexrave" by one Randy Lee Payton, Goddess Sex by Yael R. Dragwyla, dispatches from the Bill Baird pro-choice front, erotic art, an extensive sex classifieds section and more, more, more! The latest (Vol. 7 No. 3) is Brenda's 10th Anniversary issue and contains Notes of a Feminist Sadomasochist by Lady Green, a HUGE list of XXX computer philes and an interview with the hot adult film star Jeannie Pepper. GAUNTLET is a "book-a-zine" known for publishing provocative articles on the subject of free expression from the various "sides" of the issue. GAUNTLET #5 explores "Porn in the U.S.A." with such unlikely page-mates as Phyllis Schlafly and Randy Lee Payton (on the top 10 XXX films of all time). Springfield, PA 19064....

LOVING ALTERNATIVES Magazine is "dedicated to alternative lifestyles and the loving relationships they create." While at first glance LOVING ALTERNATIVES may seem primarily swinger-oriented (nice classified section) the mag cheerfully romps through other liberated territories (from body jewelry to nudist resorts to woman-penned adult video reviews) as well. Plus, our old pal Art Rosenblum from Aquarian Research Foundation turns up here as well, writing on the benefits of cooperative living. $5 from Omnific, POB 459, San Dimas, CA 91773...

PASSIONATE LIVING: The lovely Ms. Kathryn Roberts is the visionary founder of National Sexuality Seminars, Inc., an organization working to promote "a positive view of sexuality" via their annual three day National Sexuality Symposium & Expo and through the pages of their quarterly journal PASSIONATE LIVING, which Kathryn edits. Articles in Vol. 3, No.3 issue of P.L. include "Sex Magic" (a wiccan guide to ecstatic spirituality), a compilation of sex laws in the various states, columnist Ann Grogan on exploring one's erotic side, sex games for couples, a review of Rembrandt's little-known erotic art and a "product evaluation" of the Sybian Sex Machine ("Orgasm Extraordinaire?"). There's also a lengthy piece on the life of personal/sexual growth pioneer facilitator Stan Dale. A good-looking mag --and their seminars sound tasty as well: This year NSS sponsored a concurrent Mind and Longevity Conference ("smart" nutrients, etc.) with speakers and workshops on lengthening/expanding one's life while enhancing one's sexuality. These folks have the right idea. For a copy of PASSIONATE LIVING ($5) or more info on National Sexuality Symposium activities, write: NSS Seminars, Inc., P.O. Box 620123, Woodside, CA 94062.

The Newsletter of Californians Act Against Censorship Together (CAL-ACT) is a great source of info and analysis of free expression issues on the West Coast and throughout the U.S. Where else can one find so timely an analysis concerning the current Violence Against Women Act (Senate Bill 11) as where editor Bobby Lilly describes the bill as well-intentioned but flawed by a provision tucked away for grants "to train state judges and court personnel on current information on the impact of pornography on crimes against women." An "action alert" follows, urging readers to let their representatives know that NO SUCH CREDIBLE EVIDENCE OF SUCH A LINK EXISTS and that they disapprove of this provision. These are indispensable, nitty-gritty, in-the-trenches anti-censorship dispatches from Cal-ACT, 1800 Market St., Suite 1000, San Francisco, CA 94102...
